Roep de gemeenteraad op: Boycot FVD

TOEN NIET, NU NIET! GEEN SAMENWERKING MET FASCISTEN!

CORDON SANITAIRE TEGEN FASCISME!

Afgelopen maart wist Forum voor Democratie twee zetels in de gemeenteraad van Leiden te bemachtigen. Dit was net genoeg om te voorkomen dat hun nummer 3, Robbin Stikvoort, een zetel kreeg. Antifascistische onderzoekers doken in het verleden van hun kandidaten, en Robbin viel met name op door zijn eerdere deelname aan neonazistische fora en de poging om een gesigneerd exemplaar van Mein Kampf te verkopen. Nu staat hij op het punt om geïnstalleerd te worden als 'duoraadslid', een adviseur van de raadsleden van FvD.

De fascistische retoriek van FvD mag nooit worden genormaliseerd. We hebben een plicht tegenover de slachtoffers van het fascisme om ons daar tegen te verzetten. Hoewel het slechts een onderdeel van de strijd is, kan dit binnen de gemeente de vorm aannemen van een cordon sanitaire — weigeren samen te werken met FvD en resoluut tegen hun voorstellen stemmen. In Nijmegen stemde een meerderheid van de gemeenteraad zelfs tegen de beëdiging FvD's duoraadsleden. Wat weerhoudt Leidse partijen ervan om hun voorbeeld te volgen?

Last March, Forum for Democracy succeeded in winning 2 seats in Leiden's municipal council. This was just enough to keep their #3, Robbin Stikvoort, from gaining a seat. Antifascist researchers delved into the past of their candidates, and Robbin stood out in particular for his past participation in neo-nazi forums and the attempted sale of a signed copy of Mein Kampf. Now, he is about to be installed as a 'duoraadslid'', an assistent to the council members of FvD.

FvD's fascist rhetoric should never be normalised. We hold a duty to the victims of fascism to oppose it at every corner. Whilst it's just one part of the struggle, in the municipality, this can take the shape of a cordon sanitair — refusing to collaborate with FvD and resolutely voting against their motions. In Nijmegen, a majority of the municipal council voted against the swearing-in of FvD's duoraads-members. What's stopping Leiden's parties from following in their footsteps?
