Afghanistan kent de ernstigste vrouwenrechtencrisis ter wereld.
Vijf jaar na de machtsovername door de Taliban worden vrouwen en meisjes nog altijd systematisch uit het openbare leven gewist. Meisjes mogen niet meer naar school en zelfs de laatste gezondheidskliniek voor vrouwen is gesloten.
Ondertussen kiest Brussel ervoor de Taliban te normaliseren door met hen in gesprek te gaan. Ook een Nederlandse delegatie schoof aan om te spreken over de terugkeer van Afghaanse vluchtelingen.
De rechten van Afghaanse vrouwen zijn niet onderhandelbaar. Waar is onze collectieve boosheid?

Afghanistan is facing the world’s worst women’s rights crisis.
Five years after the Taliban seized power, women and girls continue to be systematically erased from public life. Girls are banned from school, and even the last women’s health clinic has been forced to close.
Meanwhile, Brussels continues to normalize the Taliban by engaging with them. A Dutch delegation also took part in discussions on the return of Afghan refugees.
The rights of Afghan women are non-negotiable. Where is our collective outrage?
