Pañuelazo: Global Day of Action for Legal and Safe Abortion

📣💜 JOIN US FOR THE PAÑUELAZO: A REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ACTION IN ROTTERDAM

On 27 September at 16:00, we are taking to the streets of Rotterdam for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and access to safe and legal abortion.

We will gather at Willemsplein and move together towards the Erasmusbrug, where we will take up public space with speeches, drums, collective performance, flyering, and a large banner action.

We are taking the public space because reproductive rights are never something we can take for granted.

Abortion is accessible in the Netherlands, but that does not mean the right is permanently guaranteed. Around the world, we are seeing reproductive freedoms challenged, restricted and rolled back. The rise of the far right, xenophobic politics and increasingly aggressive attacks on bodily autonomy remind us that rights won through struggle must also be defended through struggle.

September 28, the Global Day of Action for Legal and Safe Abortion, has its roots in feminist movements in Latin America and the Caribbean. From Rotterdam, we want to keep that history alive and connect our local struggle to movements fighting for reproductive justice everywhere.

We stand to defend what has been won here.
We stand in solidarity with those who are still denied access.
We stand because everyone should have the right to decide over their own body and their own future.
