Genocidal War Criminals Out of Utrecht

Yesterday, the HRF released a statement on the investigation of leon Khlebnikov, a participant in the European Universities Debating Championships (EUDC) representing Ben-Gurion University. Khlebnikov has been confirmed as an active reservist of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and tank gunner, documented to have been involved in the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, which he has publicly framed as entertainment.

Tivoli have cancelled hosting the EUDC due to institutional complicity, stating that the event does not comply with their cultural boycott. The UU and UCU have retracted both support and funding for the EUDC. Meanwhile the EUDC themselves show no sign of barring the participation of Zionist institutions in this championship.

But most importantly, Dutch authorities allowed for a known war criminal who has shown blatant disregard for international law to enter and remain in the country. Despite the HRF and ELSCs call for arrest, there has been no action taken by the authorities against a war criminal.

Why was this war criminal allowed to walk our streets while the police knew and had plenty opportunity to arrest him?
